What is BRAVE Day?

March 21st: BRAVE (Breast Restoration AdVocacy Education) Day is a day to recognize the rights and choices women have for prevention, treatment, and recovery from breast cancer. In particular, Pink Lemonade Project is devoted to highlighting women’s rights, the importance of mammograms, as well as the availability and funding of restoration procedures.

Why is BRAVE Day important?

Today 1 out of every 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. 1 in 6 – if you count DCIS (the earliest stage of the disease). The 5-year survival rate for early-stage, localized breast cancer is 98 percent. Survival is only the first part of the healing process. To truly thrive, women need to know exactly what resources are available and, more importantly, how to access them.

Self-empowerment and knowing your rights can make the difference between ongoing emotional and psychological struggle and a healthy, successful recovery. This is the sole purpose of BRAVE Day — educating women about their options. Information is power and so we must share it! When it comes to breast health and restoration, every woman needs to know her rights!
