Winter Wonders Virtual Craft Event: Monday, December 15

Join us for a Winter Wonders Virtual Craft event for our MBC Community, in partnership with Legacy Cancer Institute, on December 15, 6:00-7:30 pm.

Registration closes December 7 and there is a maximum of 15 people, so register early! Art supplies will be mailed to residents of SW Washington and Oregon.

Together we will enter winter creatively by making magical Winter Wonders! Using simple art processes we will create several simple yet lovely pieces of art that will hold meaning and intention for you. With a focus on self-care, these pieces may carry several layers of meaning including helping to remind you how important it is to slow down at this time of year. Our evening will begin with a guided visualization to bring you relaxation and grounding. No prior art experience is necessary, just a willingness to explore your creativity!

Our facilitator, Margaret Hartsook, is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Board-Certified Art Therapist with the American Art Therapy Association. She has extensive background as a bereavement counselor and helping families and individuals who are faced with end of life issues, serious illness and loss.

She is currently working at Legacy Good Samaritan in the Cancer Healing Center as the Art Therapy Program Coordinator. This program serves patients and families that are dealing with issues related to a cancer diagnosis. The primary focus of her work at the Legacy Cancer Healing Center is to facilitate expression and provide support to people who are in various stages of cancer, from the initial shock of diagnosis, throughout their treatment process and into survivorship.

Margaret also facilitates a wide variety of “Art as Therapy” groups. and uses a wide variety of art mediums such as collage, paint and clay in her work. Patients need not have prior art experience but a willingness and desire to explore this time in an alternative and therapeutic manner.
